Perfect Cream of Chicken Soup

Serves: 3 cans
  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ cup salted sweet cream butter
  • 1½ cups fresh cream or half & half
  • 1½ cups homemade chicken or turkey broth
  • 1 Tbs garlic salt
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¾ tsp ground black pepper
  1. Melt butter in a heavy sauce pan over medium-high heat.
  2. Quickly whisk in flour and stir constantly for 1- 2 minutes, until golden in color.
  3. Immediately pour in the cream, broth, and spices.
  4. Continue to whisk until thickened to desired consistency and remove from heat.
  5. Divide evenly between {3} wide mouth pint jars or freezer containers.
  6. Allow to fully cool before freezing.
  7. Makes the equivalent of 3 cans cream of chicken soup.
